Details

Sure, Analog:Shift is a business built around the love of watches — mostly mechanical watches. But, in essence, it’s our love for timepieces and timekeeping in general that are the common themes throughout the items we procure. And that includes the love of clocks in general: pocket watches, travel clocks, and more.

After all, in the couple hundred years before the First World War, personal timekeeping was all about the pocket watch, and before that, it was larger clocks that were front and center, horologically. We still believe a good clock — such as a classic travel model from the 1920s or 1930s — has a place in the watch lover’s collection.

This particular pocket watch is no piece of casual horology, but a solid-gold Patek Philippe produced over a century ago. Housed in an 18K yellow gold hunter-style case measuring 49 mm, it features an ‘onion’ crown, an acrylic crystal, and a beautiful white enamel dial with black ‘Breguet’ indices, a radial subsidiary seconds register at 6 o’clock, and a matching blued steel ‘Breguet’ handset. The long "Patek Philippe & Co, Genève" signature lends it an air of old-world charm, while an included Patek Philippe silk slip cover and felt pouch help round out the package.

In excellent condition considering its age and powered by a hand-wound Patek Philippe movement dating to the first decade of the 20th century, this precious timekeeper is a firm reminder of why Patek Philippe sits at the apex of horology. Whether sitting in your pocket or upon a table or desk, it’s sure to bring a smile to your face whenever you check the time.

Brand Story

+
Patek Philippe.

Founded in 1839, Patek Philippe is one of the oldest watch manufacturers in the world with an uninterrupted watchmaking history. Few luxury brands in the world carry the gravitas of their name, and for good reason. The firm's commitment to excellence in horological manufacture is unflinching, and their track record of innovation in design without peer. They continue to lead the industry, and even their fiercest competitors have nothing but the utmost respect for the company.

Owning a Patek Philippe is for many the ultimate goal of timepiece collecting, and for a certain type, the only timepieces they collect. Whichever way you look at it, there is no questioning the elegance of design, superlative manufacture of their cases and movements, or the sheer elegance and emotion that comes from owning one.

Of course for a brand that is steeped in heritage, we are told ‘You never actually own a Patek Philippe…”

Well, you know the rest.
